Take A Day Off

Taking a day off from your workouts allows your body to properly recover from training stresses.

Proper muscular recovery ensures that you can perform the best you can during your next workout. Failing to take regular days off between workout sessions can lead to overtraining. Overtraining brings on a variety of negative effects like sleep disturbances, depression, and fatigue among other things.

Take a break from that strict diet and exercise regimen and take a day off.

Try a yoga class on your day off or perform a full body stretching routine. Increasing muscular flexibility loosens tight muscles and prepares them for future training sessions.

Choosing a sport you enjoy to play or getting active for the day with your family can also break up your normal gym routine.

Simply doing something that relaxes you allows you to recharge your physical and mental batteries.

So, try scheduling a much needed massage, read a book in the sun, work in your garden, walk your dog, or just watch a movie.

Your body will thank you.
